What happens to the algae once it’s killed?

Algae is predominantly water.   Once the algae cells have been ruptured, dead algae float to the surface and dry off. It is usually naturally pushed to the side of the water body from prevailing wind and breezes where it becomes food for fish and birds. Water clarity and  is increased, turbidity reduced, and DO levels improve as the algae is no longer consuming oxygen.  This provides significant benefits for aquatic life.
