A clean and plentiful supply of water is essential for productive food and fibre production and plays an important role in food security. An increasing population and scarce and finite water resources mean that there must be greater focus on re-use and recycling water. Waste from agricultural production can also pollute waterways so to ensure healthy and sustainable water resources, wastewater needs to be cleaned and reused where possible and returned to the environment in a healthy condition.
DO in irrigation water is vital to plant health. When delivered to the root zone, high DO levels increase a plant’s ability to utilize nutrients, defend itself from pathogens, and increase crop yields. From experience, we have found that increasing dissolved oxygen levels in irrigation water from 5 – 8ppm common in water supplies to 20-22ppm has greatly enhanced crop production.
DO in Aquaculture is essential for fish health and growth and in intensive aquaculture production must be continuously maintained, especially during feeding. The ideal DO for aquaculture can range from 7 – 20ppm depending on the operation and species of fish. This is a strong benefit in recycled aquaculture systems (RAS), where raising the natural DO levels from 5 – 8 ppm to 10 – 14ppm can result in a significant increase in stocking density and business profitability.
Higher DO in water supply is also beneficial for animal production as studies indicate it improves gut health leading to improved agricultural productivity, animal health and welfare, and resilience.
Hydro2050 does not use any additional chemicals. It generates oxygen and ozone from the air. It provides highly effective and efficient water sanitation without use of inorganic chemicals and increases the dissolved oxygen in the water, which has significant benefits for improved agricultural production and resilience without adding chemicals and free from the associated risk of residue.
Hydro2050 cleans pipes and fittings from existing biofilm growth and prevents biofilm and scale build up. This reduces downtime in cleaning pipes and fittings, unblocking emitters clogged from biofilm particles, maintains the efficiency of the irrigation system as well eliminating issues with pathogens living in the biofilm and infecting irrigation water.
